Itinerary

Day 1 - Arriving in Vancouver

You’ll start your trip in Vancouver! After landing in YVR, you’ll rent a Jeep and drive up to Squamish to get ready for your first day of off-roading. The drive up will feature stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, and the iconic Stawamaus Chief.

Day 2 - Watersprite Lake

Gatorade blue alpine lakes are BC’s specialty. As it’s a 40 minute drive up narrow logging roads to the trailhead, Watersprite Lake tends to be one of the quieter hikes in the region. The hike is about 17 kilometers round trip with 700 meters of elevation gain. The trail mainly goes through a forest with peekaboo views of the surrounding mountains. The hike ends at the spectacular lake. You'll want to spend a couple hours enjoying a bagged lunch by the lake before hiking down and heading back to Squamish.

Day 3 - Brandywine Meadows Hike

Today will take you up to one of the Sea to Sky's most tranquil alpine meadows! Brandywine is a beautiful hike in the Whistler area, with some great views of Garibaldi volcano and surrounding mountains on the opposite ridge. The drive up to the trailhead isn’t the longest, but it’s filled with massive potholes and rocks. Undoubtedly a 4x4 hike. The hike is 11 kilometers round trip with 550 meters of elevation if you wrap it up at the meadow. Many hikers like to climb up to the ridges above, which offer the best views of the surrounding mountains. After the hike, you'll head up to Whistler for the night.

Day 4 - Wedgemount Lake

This hike is one of the toughest tests in BC. Wedgemount is the next mountain to the north of Blackcomb, near the Whistler Blackcomb ski area in Garibaldi Provincial Park. After a short, fairly easy drive up a gravel road, you’ll grunt up nearly 1300 meters over 6 kilometers to reach the lake. Wedgemount Lake is well worth it, the chalky blue colour makes it arguably the most spectacular spot in the region. We recommend getting an early start for this hike so you can beat the afternoon heat, and spend a few hours up at the lake.

Day 5 - Rest Day!

These hikes are all strenuous. Even for those in peak physical condition, taking a day off at some point in the trip is a good decision. We’ve slotted a rest day in after Wedgemount, as it’s the toughest hike of the trip. Spend a day enjoying the amenities in Whistler Village before heading up towards Pemberton and the more remote hikes on this trip.

Day 6 - Gott Peak

About 45 minutes east of Pemberton, Duffey Lake Provincial Park provides some of the most remote and exciting hiking options in the region. Today you’ll head up to Gott Peak to soak up some amazing views of Blowdown Lake, a remote alpine lake in the pass. There’s about a 30 minute drive up a logging road to the trailhead. The trail starts through a very old, and effectively impassible logging road. Once you’re at the top of the pass, it’s basically a off-trail scramble to the top of Gott Peak, offering 360 views of the never-logged Stein Valley, surrounding mountains, and lake.

Day 7 - Rohr Lake & Return to Vancouver

Your last day of hiking this trip! The trip wraps up with a more gradual hike to one of the most spectacular lakes of the trip. Rohr Lake sits 600 meters and 5 kilometers above the trailhead, with a short off-road drive to start the day. The trail continues to additional backcountry camping spots, but we’ve found that the additional hiking doesn't lead to better views than what you get at Rohr. After the hike, you'll make your way back towards Vancouver! We'd recommend crashing for a night in an airport hotel before taking an early flight out the next morning.
